How we’re processing and storing your data under the GDPR

How we're processing your data under the GDPR

Drum roll please… We’re GDPR (Giant Data Pain in the Rear-end) compliant! There have been highs, lows, deletions and even a brand new website, but after several late nights and a worrying amount of abbreviation-related jokes, we are very happy to announce that we’ve been GDPR’d.

As a tech recruitment company, we process a lot of data and although we had a bunch of measures in place in the past to maintain high data standards, we’ve added a few more 🙂

As a result, we believe we’re now doing everything we can to collect, store and process data securely and in the best interests of our candidates and clients.

Take a look at what we’ve done to be GDPR-compliant, and shoot us an email if you have any questions.

Refreshed consent

We’re painfully aware of how many emails we all receive every day – even more so after the tsunami waves of GDPR emails that flooded our inboxes throughout May. Disclaimer: we were also guilty of sending emails. But for a good reason.

As a tech recruitment company, we’ve been in touch with thousands of candidates over the years and have stored data including CVs and contact details of the candidates we’ve spoken to. In order to put the interests of candidates first, we made the decision to seek new consent from every candidate on our database and delete all those who chose not to receive emails from us in the future.

A brand new website

We have a brand new website! And we’re super happy with the results. Hopefully you love it too!

And the best news? Every time you apply for a job or use our contact forms to get in touch, you’ll be prompted to read and accept our privacy policy and decide whether or not you want to receive marketing emails from us in the future.

New privacy policy, terms of use and cookie policy

A key feature of the GDPR is making sure everyone can see (and understand) how their data is being processed. We’ve therefore written a new privacy policy, terms of use and cookie policy to help you understand how we’re using our data.

We won’t go into too much detail here, as we don’t want to bore you! But in case you’re interested, our privacy policy answers the following questions:

New sourcing policy + internal training

We’ve always prided ourselves on sending only relevant, targeted job opportunities to candidates, and we do our absolute best to make sure we keep these emails to a minimum. But we’ve gone one step further and updated our sourcing procedures and set up regular internal training so that all Nederlia employees source and recruit with candidates’ best interests in mind.

GDPR data rights

The GDPR has given EU citizens new rights (and strengthened some old ones), and we’ve updated our Privacy Policy and internal procedures to reflect these changes. If you’d like to find out more about the rights you have over your personal data and how you can exercise them, take a look at our Privacy Policy.

Boosted security

It’s really important to us that your data is safe and secure, and we’re committed to taking all reasonable measures to protect it. We store data on a secure server and use a series of technical and organisational security measures to safeguard it and to reduce the risk of loss, misuse, unauthorised access, disclosure and alteration. Some of the safeguards we use include firewalls, data encryption and random password generation, as well as measures to address any suspected data breach.

This is just an overview of some of the key changes we’ve implemented over the last six months in order to make sure the experience we offer candidates is up to scratch.

If you have any questions about how we process or handle data, just send an email to ninja@nederlia.com.
